Although 11 Beach sounds like a development that should be found oceanside, there is no sand in sight at the newly converted Tribeca tower. There are, however, as is often the case with these real estate tales we tell you, some rather lovely residences.
The lobby, while unextraordinary, smelt divine — though we couldn’t spot any scented candles or diffusers — and looked out onto the building’s enclosed courtyard. That public green space is lined with hand-glazed terracotta tiles and houses a skylight that will shine down onto the building’s gym.
We joined Douglas Elliman’s Dina Lewis for the a tour of the building’s model unit, for the latest installment of LLNYC’s Big Open House series.
Twenty-seven residences total — including two penthouses and three triplex townhouse units that will each come with their own spa and private pool — are housed at 11 Beach and prices range from $7.49 million to $22.5 million.
We got a look at unit 7A, the $8.65 million model unit.
While BKSK are the architects behind the project, Thomas Juul-Hansen did the interiors and Interior Marketing Group staged the unit, bringing in their custom art to line the walls.
Direct elevator access is the preferred method of entry at 11 Beach and three elevators serve the buildings units. Disembark into the unit’s sizable entrance hall and ahead of you a large open plan living area awaits.
There’s space for a lounge, dining area, and a kitchen — which is where we first learnt that 11 Beach is a tactile paradise.
At first glance the kitchen island and worktops are lined with plain old marble, but in fact the surface is leathered, a treatment that results in a surface less shiny and reflective but far softer and textured. It was impossible not to caress. Also found in the kitchen is a wine fridge, ovens galore and plenty of storage in the form of oak cabinetry.
In the powder room the sensory experience continued with a leather lined cabinet and textured wall treatment.
In all, the apartment has five bedrooms, and two are situated near the living area, making for an easy conversion into guest digs or an office (which is exactly how the model unit used the spaces). The other three bedrooms are in their own “wing” so to speak, and the large master suite is joined by two walk-in closets and a master bathroom with frosted and textured shower doors which continue the “feel me, touch me” vibe. Marble lines the floors and walls and a smart toto toilet completes the room.
A “kids’ hangout zone,” as Lewis described it, serves as the entrance to the other bedrooms. They are found off of a unexpectedly long hallway, that makes the space feel far beyond its 3,850 square feet.
With so much space, and so many surfaces and textures to occupy inquisitive hands, we dare say we could shack up in one of these units and not emerge for months.
