John Shannon

Principal & Chief Investment Officer

John Shannon is The Principal & Chief Investment Officer at HFZ Capital Group.

Mr. Shannon oversees underwriting and acquisitions for all projects in the HFZ pipeline. He is currently working on a group of high-profile mixed-use assets in Manhattan with a cumulative value of over $5 billion.

In addition to being an expert in financial analytics, Mr. Shannon’s many contacts within the industry are invaluable in helping HFZ source and evaluate new investment opportunities.

John Shannon came to HFZ in 2011 from his own consulting/advisory practice, DBLJ Consulting, where he advised and raised equity on development projects and existing multi-family portfolios valued at more than $250 million. Previously, he spent four years at Georgia Malone & Company where he sold and transacted on real estate projects worth in excess of $1 billion.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Shannon worked in the acquisitions department at The Community Development Trust, a private, real estate investment trust specializing in affordable housing projects throughout the United States.

John Shannon has a Master’s in Urban Planning from New York University’s Robert Wagner School of Public Service, and a B.S. in Business with a concentration in Finance from George Washington University.
